Preparation for Warren Avenue Paving Set to Begin on Monday, May 16
PORTLAND, Maine -- Beginning Monday, May 16, 2022, the City’s contractor, D&C Construction, will resume work in Warren Avenue between Riverside Street and 425 Warren Avenue as part of final work associated with the Warren Avenue Storm Drain Replacement project. The contractor will be on-site completing project punch-list items which includes the final surface paving and striping of the roadway. This final project work is anticipated to last approximately 1 month. Motorists should expect delays when driving through the work zone and are encouraged to seek alternate routes around the project area. Please watch out for signage and drive slowly through the work zone.
IMPORTANT INFO FOR MOTORISTS: The contractor will be implementing lane shifts in order to complete this work while keeping both inbound and outbound lanes of Warren Avenue open. There may be times during this final work between 9:00am and 3:00pm where the contractor will need to reduce traffic to one lane of stop and go traffic. Access to local businesses and residential streets will be maintained during the project.
SEEK ALTERNATE ROUTE, IF POSSIBLE, TO AVOID DELAYS
Motorists are urged, if possible, to seek alternate routes into and around this area during this time period.
Spring 2021 Project Update:
Final paving for the project zone is scheduled to be completed in August. Further notification will be released as the paving date approaches.
December 15, 2020: This project has now been substantially completed. The contractor is in the process of winterizing the site. Last week a temporary pavement shim was paved over utility trenches which had settled over the course of the summer. The contractor may be onsite periodically over the next month to work on project punch list items.
In the spring/early summer the contractor will return to complete final pavement restorations within the work zone.
The Department of Public Works and the Portland Water District would like to thank the public for your patience during the project.
As a reminder this project installed over 2,100 linear feet of storm drain to replace a failing system. The Portland Water District also replaced 1,700 Linear feet of 20" water main.
The project was successfully bid and the construction contract has been awarded to D&C construction at a contract price of $1,412,600.00. The contractor will begin mobilizing to the site the first week of June with construction anticipated to begin the week of June 8th. The contractor will begin placing construction signage and variable message signs on Warren Avenue, Riverside Street and Forest Avenue during the week of May 26th. It is anticipated that this project will be substantially completed by October 31, 2020.
